Newcastle want Wissa to replace Alexander Isak who is agitating for a move to Liverpool. Brentford have reached an agreement to sign Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth, which had been expected to open the door to a Wissa departure, but the Bees are holding firm for now.
WHAT BRENTFORD HAVE SAID
Wissa was left out of Brentford's Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest, with manager Keith Andrews offering an update after the game. He told Sky Sports: "It is what it is. it's an ongoing issue. Ideally Wissa would have been available today and unless anything has happened in the last few hours then it's the same things. Hopefully it can resolve itself sooner rather than later. We're always looking and there's a clear plan at the club if a player leaves then we'll look."
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR WISSA?
Wissa's frustrations with Brentford appear to be rising and he will be hoping the Bees can reach an agreement with Newcastle before the transfer window closes on September 1st.
