da stake casino: In one of the key matches in the Premier League this weekend, Southampton host leaders Liverpool on the south coast.
da mrbet: Claude Puel’s men have had a mixed start to the campaign and despite picking up impressive results away at Manchester City and West Ham, they’ve also endured disappointing days against lowly sides Sunderland and Hull City – who they lost 2-1 to before the international break.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been in fantastic form this term and their front four of Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana have been scoring for fun, with the Reds netting 30 goals in their 11 league games.
Saints will be looking to avoid three successive defeats when they welcome the Merseyside outfit to St. Mary’s and will want to pick up a positive result before their important trip to Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday.
Here are three reasons Southampton will take all three points at St Mary’s…
Defensive record
Despite their mixed start to the season, Southampton have once again been strong at the back, conceding just 12 goals in 11 matches this term.
Led by Jose Fonte and the brilliant Virgil van Dijk at centre-back and Oriol Romeu just in front of them, Saints boss Claude Puel will know that he needs those three players to be on top form if they are to keep Liverpool’s front four quiet.
Easier said than done, but Saints have conceded the fewest goals of any side outside of the Premier League’s top five.
Home form
Saints were beaten in their previous home match against Chelsea, but it was only their second league defeat at St Mary’s in 2016, with the other loss also coming against the Blues back in February.
Puel will want his team to bounce back and after coming from 2-0 down to beat Liverpool 3-2 earlier in the year, the supporters will be confident that their team can once again rise to the big occasion on Saturday.
Attacking threat
While Southampton will know that they need to keep it tight at the back, Puel is also aware that his team needs to attack Jurgen Klopp’s side if they are to get a positive result.
They have the players to harm a Liverpool defence that has looked leaky at times, keeping just one clean sheet so far this season, and will be looking to the likes of Dusan Tadic and Nathan Redmond to create chances for Charlie Austin whilst providing a goal threat themselves.
