da aviator aposta: Southampton are once again left with the task of re-building their squad for the coming season after what was a brilliant last campaign where the Saints finished 6th and secured themselves Europa League football.
da bet esporte: However St. Mary’s fell victim to its need to sell players again this summer and have to wave goodbye to two of the clubs star players already, with Sadio Mane having left for Liverpool and Victor Wanyama making the move to Spurs following years of speculation over his future.
The Saints were furthermore rocked by the departure of their manager Ronald Koeman who upped and left for fellow Premier League club Everton, much to the dismay of the Southampton faithful.
It is a familiar position to be in for the Saints. The club parted ways with Nigel Adkins despite him bringing the club back into the Premier League and enjoying a successful first season, and later waved goodbye to his replacement Mauricio Pochettino 18 months after his appointment as he took over at Spurs.
Alongside their managers, Southampton have said farewell to a host of their keys players over the past seasons too, including the likes of Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren who all moved to Anfield; youngsters Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers; and of course Morgan Schneiderlin who moved to Old Trafford only last summer.
Despite the adversity the club have faced, the Saints have managed to salvage themselves each and every season, investing their money wisely and most important appointing the right manager for the job each time – something they hope they have done again this summer by appointing former Lyon manager Claude Puel as the new man at the helm.
Another of their key successes comes from their investment and trust in young players, and things will be no different under new man Puel.
These 5 Southampton youngsters will give the Frenchman food for thought as he rebuilds his squad for the coming season ….
Matt Target
Southampton’s Young Player of the Year for 2014/15, Targett is gradually gaining more and more first team experience, having been handed 19 appearances last campaign under Ronald Koeman.
An attacking full-back who has the ability to get up and down with ease, Targett will aim to fill he void left by Luke Shaw’s departure in 2014, but will have to put in some fine performances to displace the impressive Ryan Bertrand.
Nathan Redmond
It is hard to believe Redmond is still only 22 having seemingly been around for an eternity at both Birmingham and Norwich City over the past years.
Southampton’s first signing this summer is an exciting one. Redmond is a versatile and direct attacking midfielder/winger who causes all sorts of problems with his positive running and willingness to take on defenders. Could score more goals, but nevertheless expect Redmond to star next season.
Harrison Reed
Having made a handful of Premier League appearances already – including an impressive 90 minutes in a 3-0 thrashing of Everton in December of 2014 – young midfielder is having to be patient for his opportunities.
The 21-year-old’s opportunities in the first team had since dwindled but he made a return to the side mid-way through last season making a number of cameo appearances. With Southampton set to play more games than ever, he could finally be given a run in the side.
James Ward-Prowse
Ward-Prowse recently signed a new six-year deal at the club this May, keeping him at the club until 2022.
Hardly a youngster by experience, the 21-year-old already has over 100 Southampton caps to his name and has already become a regular at St. Marys. There is plenty of competition in the Saints midfield however so Claude Puel will be keeping a keen eye on the midfielder as he looks to pick his best XI ahead of next season.
Sam McQueen
McQueen spent the majority of his youth career playing alongside the likes of Calum Chambers, Luke Shaw and James Ward-Prowse, so has been in good company as part of Southampton’s youth academy.
The 21-year-old – who has already made his Premier League debut – spent the final part of last season on loan at Southend where he impressed with his dynamic performances from out wide. Whilst not ready to step up just yet, Puel could give the youngster his chance to make an impression in the cup competitions.
