Tottenham supporters have slammed Gareth Southgate and the FA on Twitter for their plans to include Harry Kane in the squad for this summer’s UEFA Nations League.
The Spurs talisman is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that has kept him out since the Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against Manchester City, but according to The Guardian Southgate will reserve a squad space for the England captain after receiving assurances over his fitness.
Kane managed to find the net on 17 occasions during the Premier League season in a frustrating campaign that has included large swathes of time in the treatment room.
The confidence in Kane’s summer fitness could be a positive harbinger for his Champions League final availability as the striker attempts to recover in time for the June 1 European showpiece against Liverpool in Madrid.
After playing in the World Cup last summer and tasked with Nations League duty this summer, Kane has avoided considerable rest, something that has angered and concerned Spurs supporters on Twitter.
