da luck: According to Marca (via The Express) Arsenal have made a world-record £123million bid to try and lure Kylian Mbappe to The Emirates.
What’s the Story?
da bwin: Spanish newspaper Marc claimed on Thursday morning that Arsenal had made a world-record bid for teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe, who is valued at £29.75million by Transfermarkt.
The report also claimed that genuine interest in Mbappe was still present from both Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid, but neither had made any concrete offers for the 18-year-old wonderkid.
How good was Mbappe last season?
Quite simply, the best young player in the world. Mbappe emerged from relative obscurity to one of the most feared attackers in world football over the course of one season at Monaco.
The 18-year-old helped the French side win their domestic league and reach the semi-finals of the Champions league. Featuring 44 times for Monaco in all competitions, the teenager scored an incredible 26 times and provided eight assists to his teammates.
These staggering stats only tell half of the story, as the youngster’s general play was simply breathtaking and was reminiscent of former-Arsenal legend Thierry Henry at times.
Can Arsenal afford Mbappe?
According to reports, they most certainly can. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have around £150million to spend this summer. This does not include any transfer fee that they may accrue from the potential departure of star man Alexis Sanchez.
Arsene Wenger has already spent £46.5million on Alexandre Lacazette, which leaves just over £100million to spend elsewhere. Could they really pull off one of the most incredible transfer in recent history? Only time will tell.
