da premier bet: Newcastle should make a move for Monaco attacker and former Tottenham star Nacer Chadli to strengthen their attack this month, and should use the Ligue 1 side’s current form as reason to secure a cut-price deal for the Belgian.
What’s the word, then?
Chadli has made just nine league starts since signing for Monaco in a £10m deal from West Brom back in the summer, following the Baggies’ relegation to the Championship.
Thierry Henry’s side have endured a disastrous season so far, and currently sit just one place off the bottom in Ligue 1 – their form, coupled with Chadli’s inconsistent involvement, may suggest that the 29-year-old is frustrated at the club.
The Belgian international, who impressed at the World Cup under Roberto Martinez, knows the Premier League well having spent five seasons in England with Spurs and West Brom, so would be an ideal January signing as he would be able to slot in straight away.
Why would he be good for Newcastle?
Rafa Benitez, as always, has little funds to work with in the transfer window this month, and will need to scour the market for players who could be available on the cheap.
As aforementioned, Monaco’s terrible form may be reason for Chadli to move away as relegation remains a huge possibility, and as he nears his thirties, his age may have decreased his valuation from the £10m paid for his services back in the summer.

Chadli is a fast, powerful and creative forward who adapted well to the Premier League, and wouldn’t have gotten too far out of the swing of things given the fact he only left six months ago.
At 29-years-old, he may fall nicely into the restricted price range that Mike Ashley has set in place for Benitez at St James’ Park – his potential arrival would ease the demand for signings from fans on Tyneside, and would lift the mood around the place significantly.
