da leao: Ever since Paul Mitchell left Tottenham back in 2017, the north London side simply haven’t gotten around to replacing him.
da bet7k: The club’s former head of recruitment had played a major role in the transfers side of things during his time working whilst Mauricio Pochettino was manager, including signing the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Heung-min Son.
But ever since his departure, that role has been left largely empty, with Steve Hitchen, the club’s chief scout appearing to play a more prominent role.

However, if the latest reports are to be believed, then Spurs are seemingly intent on finally addressing that huge void, and are targeting Lyon’s Florian Maurice who is performing the same role at the French side that Mitchell did at Spurs.
Whilst the interest in Maurice is encouraging, the one man who they should be targeting – and who they have been linked with this season – is Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos.
This is a man with an astonishing record at unearthing hidden gems and watching them blossom into bona-fide stars – just look at the discoveries of Fabinho and Bernardo Silva at AS Monaco, and Nicolas Pepe at Lille.
That in itself should prompt a rethink about who Spurs target, but if that wasn’t enough, then look no further than the fact he has a previous connection with Jose Mourinho himself. The pair worked together at Real Madrid back when the latter was in charge of Los Blancos, and he opened up on the possibility of joining forces with Campos in north London.
Whose Line Is It Anyway: Michael Owen, Garth Crooks or Mark Lawrenson?
He said: “At Tottenham? I don’t know. Luis Campos worked with me at Real Madrid. Luis Campos is a big friend of mine. Luis Campos is doing great in his career with Monaco and Lille.”
Indeed, Campos himself paid tribute to Mourinho, calling him the “best coach in the world”, and that “if he called me I would speak”. It’s all set up for Spurs to reunite the duo and set up a dream set-up behind the scenes, and one that could finally the void of Mitchell.
Meanwhile, Spurs should be ruthless with this £22.5m-rated ace this summer.
